Susan's Birthday Wishes hasn't added a story.
My birthday is around the corner and I always dedicate this occasion to raising money to support the important work provided by CancerCare.
CancerCare was fortunate to have thrived and grown hiring additional social workers in order to keep up with the increased demand for services. And the organization continued to build programs such as “Cancer in the Work Place” which provides support to employees as they deal with a colleague’s illness.
CancerCare’s success deserves to be celebrated. And to that end I am hoping we can gather to walk and share a bagel together on Sunday morning, September 12 in NYC.
But sadly, we also need to walk in memory. Several years ago, I became friendly with a young woman through CancerCare who had earlier used their support services while she managed a diagnosis of breast cancer. At the time we met she was the founding Chair of the CancerCare Young Professionals Committee. I worked with and mentored her as she grew a new generation of active donors and future leaders, paying forward the professional support that she received. In April 2021, she was unanimously voted onto the CancerCare Board of Trustees, the youngest individual to join the board in the history of CancerCare. Unknown to many of us, her cancer had recurred aggressively and on June 26th, we lost Seynabou Ba, Senior Vice President at Blaylock Van, LLC.
Please join me to recognize the incredible work of CancerCare and to honor and remember Seyna and if there are others you have lost, who like Seyna had the spirit to want to pay it forward please, honor their achievements, too. One thing we can thank the pandemic for reinforcing is to celebrate what we have whenever we can.
Do Something for CancerCare
Do Something for CancerCare is a “Do It Yourself” way to raise funds for a great cause, and participating is fun and easy!
Now, more than ever, we need your help!
When you support CancerCare, you make our mission possible as we provide help and hope to anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis, including caregivers, families and the bereaved. CancerCare’s support services are free.
Whether or not you can personally donate, you can ask your family and friends to support you in any activity you choose.
Some things you can do are:

You will be making a major impact on the lives of people affected by cancer.
No matter what you choose, everyone can Do Something!

How Do You Raise Money?
Do you know 20 people who can donate $50? Or 40 people who can donate $20?
If 500 people donate $100, we will raise $50,000! If we double those numbers, we will raise $100,000! Some can raise more, some can raise less. It all adds up.

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS
