For the past 15 consecutive years, we walk in loving memory of our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, Helen Herget. Mom was the most selfless person I have ever known. She was the epitome of what a mother should be, loving, kind, patient, gentle and nurturing. She loved to bake and would have a freshly baked goody waiting for us everyday after school. She'd sit for hours playing games with us or teaching us how to play jacks. We learned so much from her by just observing. As we grew, she'd always find a way to let you know she was always there, just a phone call away. She gave the most incredible hugs and would always remind us to "keep your chin up". She was simply the first and best friend we had. She had a hard life, being orphaned at the age of 3. She grew up in an orphanage in Brooklyn and never knew she had 5 siblings until she was 14. She had to make a life for herself and that she did. Somehow, without having a mother of her own, she knew how to be THE best mother and grandmother. She never complained and she never let life bring her down. She was the finest person I have ever known and I am blessed to be her daughter and walk in her memory.
