My family did the CancerCare walk for Lung Cancer with my mom in
2016. It was shortly after her Lung Cancer diagnosis.
Mom started chemotherapy immediately thereafter, followed by
radiation, in an effort to thwart the aggressive form of cancer she had.
A year later it came back this time on her liver.
Following additional treatment she was put on immunotherapy drugs,
which she was on for the next 2 years.
In 2020 we celebrated her clean pet scan and cancer free status.
Her doctor was contemplating stopping the immunotherapy drugs but
she unfortunately ended up in the hospital earlier this year with a
secondary lung infection.
After 2 weeks there, we would say goodbye to her.
My mom was a warrior, her doctors called her an inspiration and
miracle, she was the most kind, caring woman you could imagine.
And we miss her terribly!
This year a few of us decided to do the walk again in her memory.
